A record impossible to scratch. A song that flows as gracefully and as softly as the wind on the curve of the petal of a flower. Played over. Muted. And once the noise clears, it’s still playing. Eternal are You, the most beautiful song One can be.
I heard the song “Hallelujah” while watching a movie. At that time, I was already upset with God, pulling myself away from Him when He was who I wanted. He wanted me. The song came on at the same time I turned my attention back to rejecting Him, but I couldn’t help it. I listened closely secretly hoping it would remind me of Him and this would all be over. “Broken Hallelujah”
Lyrics to the song that almost made me cry, and surely, I remembered Him. Even as I sought Him in secret, He came for me. I hadn’t stopped trying to run away physically, but my heart began to cry. It began to sing.
Joy is Good.
Happiness is Good.
Comfort is Good.
There is a cry for God we have deep within when hard times come. This is good.
God doesn’t want us to “Be Perfect” in our expression.
Him with us is perfect.
Him with our anger, is perfect.
Our sadness.
Our “hate” for Him.
Our confusion.
Is perfect.
Because He is perfect, and as He promised, upholds us with His righteous right hand.
Let us remember our God of hope, dry our tears, and cry out with a “Broken Hallelujah”.
Hallelujah to our God who is good and perfect. Who remains as such no matter what. Whose perfectness belongs to us.
As we are His, and He is ours.
“Broken Hallelujah”
Born from God being there in the dark.
We are familiar with Him being there.
Familiar with Him being around through our storms and rainy days.
Then these days come when it feels like God doesn’t deserve “Hallelujah”.
Where He doesn’t deserve praise.
This is a lie from the enemy.
It’s God there with us in the dark, that gives us reason to praise Him.
Remember Him. He never left. He never will.
In the hard times, we will find memories of God deep in the remembrance of darkness.
We will see Him there. Always.
No matter what we are going through, God is to be praised.
God can be praised because we remember.
My favorite thing about Him is knowing that when I remember Him, I know He’s reminding me of Himself and us together.
Hints why sometimes I’ll remember Him, and tell Him to go away.
God is the source of all things that belong to Him.
Including our praise.
We know that when we move towards God, it is because He has pulled us closer.
8 “But you, Israel, are My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, The descendants of Abraham My friend. 9 You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, And called from its farthest regions, And said to you, ‘You are My servant, I have chosen you and have not cast you away:”
10 “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:8-10 NKJV
